It has been crazy hot this weekend! Today it was about 90 degrees (about 32 Celsius) and very humid.The perfect day for a 1st time lemonade stand Raul thought.
I wasn't too sure, since we live on a very quiet cul-de-sac, with not much traffic, and thought a busier day, when someone has a tag sale or something, might be better.
But The kids were very willing, Raul would sell lemonade and Ice tea and Robin would sell drawings, so I helped them get started.
We made signs, set up tables out front by the lilac bushes, put an umbrella out, and decorated with some flowers. Hey, we take our business serious! Around noon everything was ready for selling.Things started off slow, but then the first customers appeared, our neighbours Joe & Marie. They bought some stuff from both kids, ave them a buck, and they got to keep the change! Robin came running inside excitedly, waving her dollar around.
That first sale was enough to get things going for them. Robin started drawing vigorously, and Raul rung his bell and shouted "lemonade for sale!" whenever cars passed by.
Turns out they started selling quite a bit! To neighbourhood kids, other neighbours, and even some teenage boys who were nice enough to pull over and buy a bunch of stuff.
After a while, Robin got kind of tired though, and started making somewhat sloppy work. I told her it wasn't really nice to charge money for half finished things, and that perhaps she should go play. So, she did, but not until we counted her money. She made $6! She was really excited.
Raul however, was unstoppable, and continued to sell until 7.00 pm. He did take play breaks of course, but he made sure to stay close enough to see if there were any potential costumers coming near. We cleaned everything up together and then he played outside until 8.00.
We went through a total of 1 pitcher of lemonade (we were out after that) and 2 pitchers of Ice Tea. We counted his earning right before bedtime, and Raul made a whopping $21!! Not bad when you're 7! I think I'm going to have a lemonade stand myself tomorrow!.
Needless to say, He went to sleep super excited (He's already quite the money lover, so you can imagine) with the biggest grin on his face.
