Raul's "graduation"

Yes, indeed, one can "graduate" from Kindergarten! :-D

Raul did so today. We were supposed to be there at 1.30 on the athletics field. But, since the skies looked rather threatening, it was moved indoors in each kids own classroom.

1/4 of the room was the stage, and the Families were in the other part. The kids had been practicing 5 songs which they would perform, and Every kid got a diploma as well.

Kelvin was at work, so i took the whole gang (robin & Quinn) with me.

The kids had all made tye dye shirts that they were wearing.

The songs were cute, but the 1st one seemed never ending. You know, it was one of those songs when in each verse the count up a number. And the verses were long, and this went all the way up 'till 10! Now of course i admire how these kids can enthusiastically sing this whole thing and remember it, but watching it is just "one of those things you do". Call me a bad mom, but i can't stand kids songs that count up or down by numbers and repeat a load of stuff all the time, as well as books. I know it's great for learning, but it's boring! Sorry Dr Seuss. As proud as I am that Raul can read the entire "Green eggs and ham" out loud, It is a small torture to hear the same words over and over again..:-p

Anyway, So after the 1st song, there were 4 more. 2 in which Raul had a semi solo, and he was not shy at all! Bravo! I will add a clip as well.

After the songs, Raul's teacher, Mrs Schwantner, read a story, and then everyone got their diploma.

Of course, there were many funny moments I did not catch on camera, since kids say the darnedest things as you know.

It was quite funny when all kids got bottles of bubbles, and Raul exclaimed to another girl: "Hey! Yours looks like a beer bottle!". Ahem, yes of course, since beer is what we drink at home all day, from breakfast on..;-)

A lot of people brought treats, so to the kids joy, they got to eat cupcakes and cookies afterwards.

Tomorrow will really be the last day before summer vacation. I can't believe how much Raul has learned and changed in one year! He can read little books now, and he just behaves differently. He is really starting to act like a big kid, with his own life and ideas..*sigh*

To celebrate, after school we went to Mc Crays (in the rain, but hey, still fun!) and then to Mc Donald's, since Raul got to pick what's for dinner.

And as Usual, we were being a bit last minute with teacher's gifts, so Raul made some nice watercolour paintings before bed. A bear for Mrs Schwantner (because she likes bears) and The cat in the hat for Mrs Tracy. They are all matted and framed now and ready to go.
